Dr. Nir Tzabar

Founder at CryoR Ltd / Faculty at Ariel University

Dr. Nir Tzabar has been a prominent figure in cryogenic cooling since 2002, starting at Rafael Ltd. He quickly rose to head their cryogenic group, leading research and development of advanced coolers for infrared detectors.

In 2008, he was honored with a research associate position at Rafael, intensifying his focus on cryogenics R&D.

Dr. Tzabar earned his PhD from the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology, with a dissertation on “Mixed-Gas Joule-Thomson Sorption Cryocoolers.”

His postdoctoral tenure at the University of Twente included continuing his PhD research and contributing to the Eco-Swing project, which developed the first superconducting wind turbine, successfully operational in Denmark in 2018.

At Ariel University in Israel, Dr. Tzabar serves as a faculty member in Mechanical Engineering, leads the Energy Track, and heads the Ariel Energy Research Center. He founded CryoR Ltd in 2015 to provide specialized consulting in cryogenic cooling and refrigeration, evolving the firm to handle proof of concept projects and prototyping, including the delivery of the first laboratory cryocooler to a client.
